Rohit Shetty says he’s involved to recreate the big-screen magic of his cop universe on OTT

Rohit Shetty says he’s eager to recreate the big-screen magic of his cop universe on OTT – Times of India

When Rohit Shetty came up with his cop drama ‘Singham’ in 2011 little did he know that it will soon lead to a superhit cop universe. Then came ‘Simmba’ (2018) and ‘Sooryavanshi’ (2021) giving enough adrenaline rush to cine buffs. And now, the ace filmmaker is extending his much-loved cop universe to OTT. Fans are all excited for yet another high-octane men in uniform story and each time there’s an update from the sets of ‘Indian Police Force’ fans can’t stop loving them.

While speaking to a media outlet recently Rohit said that the OTT debut came naturally to him as he believes in following the trends. For him, a filmmaker has to adapt according to the preference or choice of audience, just like once people started making content for television going with the flow. Since people now prefer a wide range of OTT content and the viewership patterns have changed over the past few years he was willing to recreate the big-screen magic for OTT.

Be it the two ‘Singham’ films, ‘Simba’ or ‘Sooryavanshi’, all the four films represented the heroes with a larger-than-life aura. The fierce cop characters Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar played were hugely celebrated by the audience. Now, the cop universe has a new name and it’s Sidharth Malhotra who will be making his OTT debut with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Indian Police Force’. Interestingly, Sidharth did a commendable job in Shershaah playing an army captain and fans are eagerly waiting to see him in Rohit’s much-loved cop universe.

When asked why he roped in Sidharth for the OTT project the ‘Sooryavanshi’ revealed that the storyline needed a young guy. Since Rohit has already worked with a relatively young Ranveer Singh in ‘Simba’ he was looking for someone with whom he hasn’t worked yet and also hasn’t been a part of his cop universe yet.

There’s another catch line for the series as the director has also introduced a fierce female cop played by Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Rohit reveals that the female cop character was actually in his mind for the last few years and he was developing the character cautiously in the last three years.
